Chari (Charianna) Blackcastle

Description: Tall, attractive young woman about 20 years old with striking green eyes and blond hair. She wears a bright red cloak and white tabard with her family crest over golden armor. She wears a golden crown like headpiece across her forward; her long blond hair is straight and falls across the crown. Her sword seems like an impossibly long and thin rapier etched with eleven runes – the handle is the more traditional long sword crosspiece with a long grip and a deep red ruby is set in the heavy pommel. The sword flashes into a bow with a single thought. As a bow, the ruby is set in the wood, again carved with elven runes, just above the hand grip. When not adventuring, she prefers to wear flowing gowns of white or red.

She always carries with her several sheets of paper and ink and will frequently hire couriers, or wizards to send messages home to her family.

Faith: She is a worshipper of Myrhiss, the goddess of perfect love on both the macrocosmic and microcosmic scales. (Myrhiss represents the perfect beauty of the Realm of Ideals, which her followers hope to bring to the mortal world. She is the lover of Lirr, Queen of Stories. Most people know her simply as the goddess of love and beauty. But Myhriss has a dark side, a blasphemous side named Scharossar, the cruel goddess of torture. Some claim Scharossar is Myrhiss’ twin, while others say she is Scharossar’s own denied hungers given form by the power of her own refusal to confront them. Druidic groups like the Restorers of the Triune Mother are especially likely to advocate this position. Perhaps it is the priests of Zodal who have the most to say about Myrhiss with their theology of Eros, the primal force that existed before all else. When Beory was born through Eros’ attractive force, it was Myrhiss who shaped the goddess into form, and Olidammara who caused her to bloom. Chaav, the third child of Eros, came into being from Eros’ pure delight at what he and his children had made. ) In times of Danger, Chari is likely to call out “Myrhiss help us.” She is also fond of sayings related to beauty.

Background: Chari was born to luck and privilege. The 5th child in the Blackcastle family, she was raised such that she lacked very little growing up. For the longest time, as the youngest child, she was protected by not only her family but her elder siblings as well. As a result, she has a tendency to be a bit rebellious and is frequently willing to take risks.

The count insisted that all his children be trained in the martial arts. However, Chari took to fighting exceptionally well. An elven weapon master from Asnath heard of Chari’s prowess and offered to continue her training. In his testing, he determined she also had magical aptitude so he began merging her fledgling magical ability with her martial training. Alaric Silverdancer, the weapon master, taught Chari the long forgotten and rarely used Duskblade style of fighting. A style that merges magic and martial mystery seamlessly.

Raised during the Greyhawk Wars, she was 13 when the peace treaty signed; she remembers seeing many people ride off to battle. She was 15 when Canon Hazen used the Crook of Rao to create the Flight of Fiends and remembers the celebrations lasting late in the nights.

One year, when Chari was bout 16, an adventuring Cleric to Myrhiss spent the winter at the Blackcastle lands. Up until that time, Chari has mainly been influenced by St. Cuthbert and Rao’s dogmas. The Cleric, Aliana Flendis, introduced Chari to Myrhiss and her worship. Before Aliana left that spring, Chari had converted to a devoted worshiper of the Goddess of Love, Romance, Beauty and Affection.

Between the ages of 16 and 18, Chari continued to work on improving her skill – in addition, she learned about the Knights of Luna. According to Alaric, a small group of the knights fight from the sky – riding Great Eagles and Owls. It was then that Chari became enchanted with the idea of fighting from the sky. Alaric told her that should Chari ever choose to follow that path, the Gods would provide her a mount.

At the age of 18, Chari decided to take up the adventurer’s mantle. With it being so much a part of her family’s heritage, she left with the blessing of her family and the bishop.

She spent the next two years traveling through Veluna up toward Furyondy. Eventually she joined with a group of adventurers – a cleric to Rao, a wizard and a druid. (During this journey – horrible things – prisoner? Rescued by the other adventurers?) When deep winter hit, they decided to remain in Chendl. However, over the winter, things changed within the group. The Druid, who could not stand the city, eventually left to return to the forest. The wizard apprenticed herself to another and the fighter, who fell in love, chose to take a job at an inn where his lady worked.
